Outdoor Adventures!

Bethany's friend Jess came into town from California, and has never been to the Outer Banks before. Since us Southern girls are all about showing off our "Southern Hospitality" we took the girls for a fun day of outdoor activities. First on the list was taking the canoes out into the canal to see some of the beautiful wildlife that is indigenous to Kitty Hawk...

Brittany and Whitney in the "Kineo" Canoe! This shot was taken just after Whitney's cell phone fell out of her pocket and into the water. This is one fine example of why you should not take electronics on your outdoor adventures!

My paddle partner, Brittany Doyle.

We got the most improved paddling award for the day!

Bethany and her friend Jess enjoying the view of Kitty Hawk from the water!

We all packed a lunch and had a picnic in our boats by a covered bridge. After all that paddling, we earned our meals!

There was no shortage of wildlife today. Here is a picture of a loon flying just above the water. My sister Brittany and I also saw a snake and were able to kill it with our BB guns!

If you look close you can see a nutria swimming in the water. Don't be fooled by their cute appearance, as they can be one of the nastiest creatures you can encounter in the water.

This is a picture of a cute little painter turtle that we caught swimming in the water.

A self portrait of us and our new little buddy!

We found our turtle a much nicer place to live. He gave us one more cute look before swimming away to his new home.

After our canoe Eco tour, mom and I took Shook for a trip to the beach. As you can see, he loves the car and having his ears flap in the wind.

Shook with his grandmother. My mom spoils our dog by picking him up everyday and taking him on a nice long walk/ run! Thank you mom!

Shook showing me some love.

After our beach outing, it was back to playing tourist with the Doyles, the Hines, and Bethany's friend Jess. As you can see, we went to Jockey's Ridge to go sand boarding. Brant and Jess discovered that when you make a cardboard path down the hill and then try and slide down it with the body board, it works much better!

Whitney, showing off her good style. You may as well add professional sandboarder to Whitney's resume!

Now Jesse, on the other hand, should not quit his day job, as sandboarding is just not as easy as surfing! We will have to get his wife to give him some pointers on how it's done! We love you Teddy!

I may have stood up, but I still kept my safety stance the entire ride!

Brant and Bethany riding tandem.

Brant being a good hubby and piggybacking Bethany up the dune.

The Doyle's made tandeming look so much fun that Whitney and I just had to give it a try...thankfully Jess was kind enough to help us out with a big push.

This was taken just seconds before we had a crash landing where I ended up in the splits and Whitney stole too much sand to take home.

Mr. and Mrs. Hines...one of the cutest couples you will ever meet!

One last picture before my camera died. We may look a little rough, but as you can see, we had a very long day! :)

your words are way too kind. the stories were very well told and with much enthusiasm. i'd say you have a gift in writing (maybe not spelling, but writing yes). i think you had awesome style sandboarding, even after you belly-flopped hard on the bodyboard before we built the cardboard path. ha ha. great pics! glad somebody has a camera... and a cell phone.
